Your Pre-MOT Checklist

Before you bring your vehicle to our Maidenhead garage, there are a few quick checks you can do as the driver that can help your vehicle pass its MOT. If you require any car servicing, brake repairs, tyre fitting or wheel alignment before the test, running through this list can help you stay on track with your renewal date.

• Ensure your car is clean, inside and outside. An MOT tester may refuse to complete the test if your vehicle is excessively dirty or filled with unnecessary clutter.

• Clean your number plate so that it is easily readable.

• Check the condition of your windscreen wipers, ensuring there are no tears.

• Check to see if all your car’s lights are working as expected. You can ask a friend or family member to stand outside the vehicle and confirm which lights are functioning and which ones aren’t.

• Check the pressure and tread of your tyres.

• Top up all fluid levels in your vehicles. This includes screenwash, brake fluid and oil.

• Check your horn is working as normal.

• Check that all your mirrors are intact and secure.

• Ensure that your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in your vehicle’s V5C logbook matches the one marked on the bodywork.
